Lady Warriors Victorious in the First Round of the NAIA Tournament

The Lady Warriors took the court Tuesday evening for the first round of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Basketball National Championship tournament in Park City, KS.

The Sterling women entered Hartman Arena with one goal in mind: victory.

The Lady Warriors played a tough-fought game against Mid-American Christian University, eventually coming away with a 73-70 victory.

In addition to the win, career accomplishments were met by two players — Bethany Stucky and Taya Wilson.

Stucky, a senior from Moundridge, KS, scored early in the first quarter with her first shot of the night. That basket made her a 1,000-point scorer in her career at Sterling.

Then, in the third quarter, senior Taya Wilson from Sterling, KS, grabbed another rebound, making her the stand-alone all-time rebounding leader at Sterling College.

Sterling College Lady Warriors are poised to take on No. 3 Montana Western, in the Second Round of the tournament at 6 p.m. today at Hartman Arena in Park City, KS. Tickets can be purchased via www.kcacsports.com/tickets
