Warrior Recap Wk: 01/28-02/04

Basketball

On Wednesday, varsity women’s and men’s basketball continued their conference play against the Saint Mary Spires. Women had a tough break against the Spires, losing 75-74 in a last-second layup. The men’s team had trouble keeping up with the Spires’ offense, losing 91-68.

However, the Warriors remained strong in their next match-up that Thursday. The women’s team faced off against the Bethany College Swedes, taking them by storm with a final score of 71-57. The men also dominated their game, traveling to Kansas Wesleyan and coming home with a 76-66 win.

The junior varsity men played against Southwestern on Feb. 3, where a tight game commenced between the Warriors and the Panthers. The Warriors finally took and kept the lead, able to come out on top with a 100-92 win.

The Varsity teams followed behind them, where the varsity women’s crushed the Panthers 77-43. The varsity men were not so lucky, falling to the Panthers 85-59.

Baseball

The Warrior baseball team picked up a killer game on Feb. 2, facing off against Randall. In the two-game competition, Sterling dominated the field with runs, finishing the first game 17-0 and the second, 22-0. The third game was canceled due to weather and will likely not be rescheduled.

Indoor Track and Field

The Indoor Track and Field team continued their spring season by traveling to the Washburn Open on Feb. 2. To view the results, click here.

Softball

Softball faced the challenging weather on Feb. 2 for their game against Dallas Christian University. They came with a strong force in the first game, taking the win by 8-0. However, the Dallas Christian posed more of a threat in the second game, coming back to win 5-4 in the final innings. Their third game, set to be Feb. 3, was canceled due to the weather conditions.
